There is no indication that Amazon Seattle will be transferring workforce to NY or DC. Amazon’s objective is to sustain a 20-25 percent annual increase in sales. I think it is fair to assume that Amazon will not be growing in Seattle or hiring as many employees as it has done so aggressively in the past, but that does not translate to laying people off or relocating them in any consequential way if she wants to continue to grow.
Unlike when Boeing moved its headquarter to Chicago and took some jobs in the process, Amazon is not leaving the city; it is duplicating the headquarter.
Will Seattle’s inventory of homes for sale increase because of the HQ2 and because people will be moving out of Seattle? I think the answer to the question is NO. And I believe people will still be moving to Seattle to work for Amazon.
